About 50 transgenders on Saturday took out a silent procession in the city as part of paying homage to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. The transgenders gathered at Kaundanpalayam and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Jayalalithaa and took out a procession from there to TVS Nagar, covering some three KM.

Coimbatore District Transgenders Association secretary, Poongulali said there were about 480 transgenders in the district and it was Jayalalithaa who provided basic amenities and green houses for a decent living in the society.

Moreover, all the transgenders, without families, were provided with ration cards and Aadhar card, Poongulali said.
